Computer Assisted Arts
Instructor: Mr. Elmore
Course Description
This course will take students
through the process of constructing our world from the perspective of “Human
Centered Design”. Students will learn and experience “design thinking”,
empathy, innovative design, problem solving, technology, and self-branding
business strategies. The final visual products created will be graphic, motion and industrial designs.
Look for the moment that you cringe, and redesign
the experience.
“It's
about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured
environment on a daily basis. It's about personal expression, identity,
consumerism, and sustainability.”
Course Fee:
$30.00 (please make
checks out to NCHS)
Course Materials:
Sketchbook (gridded preferred)
Flash drive (optional)
Grading:
Grades are determined
through the accumulation of points, four types of points are possible: Daily
Productivity points, project/exercise points, test/quiz points, and sketch book
points. I use the NCSD#1 Grading scale which is:
A: 90 -100
B: 80 - 89
C: 70 - 79
D: 60 - 69
F: 60 and below
Attendance:
Students are expected to
attend class daily. Daily productivity points are not awarded
when the student is absent. Excused absences must be made up by coming
into class and working on the assignment for the equivalent time missed. This
must take place outside of class and the make up work must be turned in within
a week of the absence. Recommended days to make up work are Tuesday and
Thursday mornings from 7:30am – 8:20am.
Tardy:
Students are expected to
be in the classroom when the bell rings or they are tardy. Being tardy
results in a loss of 10 of the 20 daily productivity points.
Grading Breakdown:
71%
